My blog’s recent disappearance

You may have noticed that Not Strictly Spiritual has been

A. Left un-updated for days on end

B. Completely down for hours on end

C. In a bit of a transition for months on end

D. All of the above.

If you answered D, you get a gold star. But the reasons for all this mayhem and mishap are good, I swear.

This week in particular has been a rough one. It started with a crazy kid and work schedule that just promises to get worse until some time next week, at which point I hope it will get better. But I always say that and it never does. Get better, that is.

Then I was away for two days taping the next three episodes of Guided by Grace. If you follow me on Facebook, you know it was a night to remember. Like the Titanic but without the iceberg. I was in what might be considered steerage class in an “unsinkable” retreat house. It should sink. At the very least, it stinks. Here’s the one bright spot from my stay at the Retreat House of Horrors, a peacock that was sitting on a branch two stories up just outside my window.

peacock croppedHe was there when I arrived at 9 p.m., when I checked at 11 p.m., when I was up at 4 a.m. and when I left at 8 a.m. He was like my sentinel, keeping watch and somehow keeping me sane when I really felt like I should get in my car and run away. That retreat house stay ended when I went to Mass downstairs where a dog walked up the aisle with the priest and wandered around the altar throughout Mass. I really felt like I was in some sort of parallel universe or down the rabbit hole or something. Really, a crazy experience I just didn’t need in my life. But, hey, at least I got a blog post out of it. Oh, and sorry for the lame photo with the reflection of my laptop keyboard in the window. I don’t have a smartphone so I actually had to take that photo with my laptop’s Photo Booth program. Maybe Dennis is right. Maybe I need an iPhone.

The good news in all this is that we have three new shows of Guided by Grace ready to air next month, so stay tuned. Lots of good stuff to talk about — self-image, social media, NFP, and more. I’ll post the schedule and links when the shows are ready to go.

The other problems at NSS — blank screens, nothing at all when you typed in the name, redirecting you to the wrong places — were related to a switch back to GoDaddy, where my blog used to hosted. I wanted to return it to that spot and that involves all sorts of stuff I really don’t understand. I just know it means all of you can’t find me for a while, and that makes me crazy. So, you see, more crazy. Is it any wonder I just want to pull the covers up and cry?

But I’m back, and I’m hoping as some things finish up this week — prep for a webinar I’ll be hosting next week, middle school production of Annie, competition dance team performance  — I will find a little peace and a little time to write about spiritual things or food or something other than my ever-present insanity. So come back again soon. I’ll be here. I hope.
